Overview and FAQ

Help raise money and awareness for the situation in Haiti. You can run or just fund those that do. The catch? The sooner the better!!!

Launched January 14th, 2010, Run For Haiti could very well be the coolest online relief-oriented fundraising effort ever. And you can be a part of it. The goal is $100,000. Anyone can, in less than five minutes, sign-up as a fundraiser and compete to raise money.

We’re Looking for a Few Good Runners:

  • 40 to be exact.
  • Pledge to raise $2500 and to run a mile for every $100 you raise up to 25 miles.
  • 40 x $2500 is $100,000 sent directly to Partners In Health to aid in the the relief efforts in Haiti.

Here’s how you do it: Let’s say you convince some friends to each chip in $250 to the cause. Direct them to your personalized donation page, they pay with credit cards, and that’s $12,000 you raised. Even if you have no money to donate yourself, you can still compete and help. It is your ability to spread the word, not the size of your bank account, that is most important.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Are donations for this competition tax-deductible? Yes! The Partners In Health (PIH) is a 501(c)3 charities. Just provide the donation receipts to your tax adviser or accountant.

Can I donate to any not-for-profit I want? No. We are limiting the focus to Partners In Health as they have been working on the ground in Haiti for well over 20 years. They are an internationally recognized organization and will be instrumental in helping to set matters right in Haiti.

How is $100k possible? Isn’t that ridiculous?

It’s entirely possible. Most fundraising fails because it’s not ambitious enough to excite people. Here are a few ways we can get to $100k and then surpass it:

  • 40 people (or groups of friends, etc.) each fund a runner at $2,500
  • 100 people (or groups of friends, etc.) each fund $1000
  • 1,000 people donate or raise $100 each

It Can Be Done.
